Shadow Mountain was a godsend for our Addicted Love One who is now sober and in recovery for well over three years, still attending sobriety meetings (AA or NA) at least weekly, living independently and successfully in Colorado. Our family went through hell due to our ALO's serious drug addiction. Our lives were turned upside down and inside out. Shadow Mountain gave us all our lives back, most importantly our ALO's life which was on a dangerous downward trajectory. Entry into the program was facilitated quickly and painlessly by a staff of caring professionals. I remember well being assured at the time, "just get your ALO to us as soon as possible, and let us take it from there." Not sure what our family would have done without this program. The staff and counselors communicated very effectively and regularly with us on our ALO's progress, our role in the program, and involved us directly into the program and family workshop at the appropriate point. Our ALO progressed in the program at Taos and transitioned nicely into a sponsored sober living environment in Colorado, and then established a nice, safe, independent life there. I was an employee at the facility for more than a year and my experience was that staff genuinely cared about giving participants a foundation that will support them in their lives and help them to become the individuals they always truly wanted to be. Then there is the facility which is stunningly beautiful and quiet. The perfect place for a motivated individual to make the changes needed to live a productive life!

This place saved my life. There's no other way to put it. I would have lost my life to my addiction if I had not chosen Shadow Mountain in Taos. I am grateful every day that I decided on this place. I had been to inpatient rehabilitation centers before, and this is by far the best that I've been to. Everybody that works there understands and cares about what the clients are going through. The area is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of activities to join in on. And the recovery scene in Taos is incredible. It is not an easy program, but it is life saving.

I am so grateful that I have experienced this treatment center. The therapy is top notch and the staff makes you feel welcome from the Director to the Grounds Keeper (nicest and hard working guy). The structure and activities keep you busy and teaches you how to live life after you leave here. I made awesome memories and great friends I now call my Brothers.

I have been part of the staff for nearly two years, and my experience has been wonderful. There have been many clients that have trusted the process and made their choice to dive deep into the work and therapy provided from the clinical team as well from the mentor staff, that today are living productive clean lives. The model here at SMR Taos is amazing and it works if you want it!!
